The individual’s name, address, birth date information, and other details are present on the Aadhaar card, which must always be updated. The user has to update it twice, as stated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The UIDAI is a statutory body set up by the Indian government, and they are responsible for allotting a 12-digit unique identification number to each Aadhaar card holder. The government of India has made it compulsory for every individual to have their Aadhaar card details updated with proper information.

What Is the Importance of an Aadhaar Card?

The Aadhaar card comes with a 12-digit unique identification number which is different for each card holder in India. This is the centralized number which is unique for each individual. It stores the details of the individual in the government database. The Aadhaar card has also become the government’s base for public welfare and citizen services.

On one hand, when the Indian government is promoting the various benefits of the Aadhaar card through several public awareness programs, most people are still unaware of its uses. So, here is the importance of having an Aadhaar card.

Identity Card:

The Aadhaar card serves as an identity card for the citizens of India. Since it is linked with other identification cards such as the PAN or Permanent Account Number card, an individual’s Aadhaar card has now become the only card that is being accepted throughout the country for various purposes. With the help of the Aadhaar card, you don’t need to apply for or register any other card for different services.

For instance, the Aadhaar card may be used as your proof of address, proof of identity, proof of age, etc., when applying for any the government job. Overall, Aadhaar cards are quite versatile, which may be helpful for all kinds of government-related programmes or services.

Availing of Subsidies:

The most crucial use of the Aadhaar card includes permitting the card user to avail of all the government subsidies they are eligible for. As the government already acquires all the essential data regarding the individual, they will have to produce only their Aadhaar card to make good use of the different programmes or subsidies.

So far, the Indian government has introduced the schemes where it is compulsory to link the Aadhaar card to the LPG connection and bank account so that people can get the LPG subsidy directly to their bank account. This will also help to eliminate the probability of misappropriating their funds or individuals making fraud claims to receive the benefits.

Ease of Availability:

An Aadhaar card is the sole ID card issued by the government that one can use anywhere within the country. Individuals can also choose the online application for the Aadhaar card available. This is the digital version of the Aadhaar card’s physical copy which is also known as the e-Aadhaar, and one can view it from anywhere and at any time.

Therefore, it is also wise to have a duplicate Aadhaar. Although one can download the digital version of the card and present it whenever needed, yet it is a good habit to keep a duplicate copy as it reduces the hassle of carrying the original card, which always poses the risk of getting misplaced or lost.
